SOUTH KONA

South of the busy town of Kailua, shops, restaurants, and condominiums give way to coffee plantations, ranch lands, macadamia nut orchards, and a slower pace of life. Visitors to this area won't want to miss Puuhonua O Honaunau National Park (the ancient Hawaiian Place of Refuge ) and Kealakekua Bay, which offers spectacular snorkeling and kayaking.
